We are committed to making LVC Softball accessible to everyone in the club, and we hold the scores, stats, schedule and replays to the same standard as the rest of the site. Accessibility gets checked before a change goes out, not after.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. LVC Softball conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Conforms” means the content meets the accessibility standard in full.
What we do
Screen readers
Pages are built from real headings, landmarks, lists and tables, and every button, link and form field carries a name, so VoiceOver and NVDA read a page in a sensible order and can jump around it. When the page changes under you, we say so in one short sentence, politely, instead of interrupting.
Keyboard
Everything works from the keyboard alone: Tab and Shift+Tab to move, Enter or Space to activate, arrow keys inside grids and tab strips, Escape to close. Dialogs hold focus while they are open and hand it back to whatever opened them.
Visible focus
Whatever you are on is outlined clearly, so you never lose your place. We do not strip focus rings to tidy up a layout.
Text size and reflow
Text scales to 200% and the layout reflows down to a 320-pixel-wide screen without you having to scroll sideways to read a line. Pinch-zoom is never disabled.
Contrast and colour
Text, controls and meaningful graphics meet or beat the WCAG AA contrast ratios. Nothing important is signalled by colour alone: a win, a loss, a seed, a live game, a status all carry text as well.
Motion
If you have “Reduce Motion” turned on, we honour it: animation stops, and anything that loops on its own starts paused.
Targets
Controls are large enough to hit: at least 24 by 24 pixels, or spaced so they may as well be.
Live scores and play-by-play
A game updating in the background is announced politely, once, in a short sentence. The line score, the box score and the play-by-play are real HTML tables you can navigate with a screen reader.
The app
Our iPhone and Apple Watch app, Unique Replay, is built on the accessibility features in iOS and watchOS, so the settings you already use apply: VoiceOver (including the game situation — inning, count, outs, runners, score — spoken rather than left as a picture), Voice Control, Dynamic Type, Differentiate Without Color, Increase Contrast, Reduce Motion and the system appearance setting.
Technical specifications
Accessibility relies on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA, and on your browser and any assistive technology working together. Where a page embeds third-party content — video hosted on YouTube, and the sign-in challenge from Cloudflare — that content is delivered by those providers under their own accessibility policies, including the captions YouTube generates. This statement covers the content we build and control. If a third-party embed is getting in your way, tell us and we will find another route to the same thing.
Compatibility
Built and checked against current Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS and with NVDA on Windows. Older browsers may work but are not checked.
Assessment approach
Self-evaluated. Every page and view is audited automatically against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 Level A and AA on each release, and the result must be zero failures before anything ships. That is backed by hand checking for the things a tool cannot see — reading order, keyboard paths, focus handling, and whether meaning survives without colour — and by measuring contrast ratios directly rather than trusting a palette.
Tell us and we will fix it
If any part of this site is hard to use with assistive technology, email [email protected]. Tell us the page, the device, and what you are using: VoiceOver, NVDA, keyboard only, zoom, larger text. We answer within two business days and we fix what we can straight away. If we cannot fix something quickly we will tell you what we are doing instead, and get you the same information another way in the meantime.
This statement was prepared on 10 September 2026 and applies to LVC Softball. It is reviewed whenever the site changes materially.
